Αγαπητοί φίλοι,
σας παραθέτω κάποιες σκέψεις μου στα αγγλικά όπως ακριβώς τις έστειλα σε γράμμα στο περιοδικό guitarist
European financial crisis vs g.a.s.
Dear friends..
I am Greek..
and if you're watching the news or reading newspapers you know what this means in an economy way since the last couple of months.
im an engineer and a hobby guitarist...suffering (like many of you) from g.a.s.
...and suddenly i cant buy the expensive guitars ive always dreamed about...
My Saturday walks to guitar shops are much different as im just watching knowing that i cant afford (even with my credit card) the new custom shop tele they sell, that flirts with my heart and soul...as im not quite sure ill still have my job next month and ..the months to come....
At first i felt awful like a nicotine junkie in a no cigarettes world.
On second thought i realized that a master built strat and a 59 historic reissue les paul that i already own are more than enough for 90% of the guitarists among us and the financial crisis is above everything a great lesson to show us how to change our selves from homo commodious to more self contained.
After all there is a strong feeling we over 40 year old adults come to meet again.. the big dreams we make in front of the music shops that keep our love for the instrument alive (like the young kids in front of a game shop)
We become better players too, cause now there's no too much time spending in selling and buying instruments all the time and not focusing to the primary reason we got stacked with a guitar for the very first time.
So ...even i quitted drugs (meaning buying new guitars.. mostly expensive ones - after i sold my home studio once) i ll never quit joints - and one of the best joints around is a full colored and paper made.
im telling you that if you're reading this letter you are already holding it.
Thanx Guitarist for being there keeping the Spirit alive,
Dimitris
