Καμία σχετική πληροφορία για το ‘new concept”;
Ας αναφέρω τουλάχιστον το τι λέει στο βιβλιαράκι του δίσκου ο ίδιος ο δημιουργός :
“This album is in memory of my work with Weather Report in a highly creative time period. The intention here, however, was not to play Weather Report repertoire, which we sometimes do in concert, but to record new material using the concept I brought to that group in 1970. Namely, direct conversation and parity between the instruments, leaving behind old roles of rhythm section servitude. This marked the birth of a new music, taking further directions in jazz set motion by Bill Evans, Scott LaFaro and Ornette Coleman. (After my departure, Weather Report moved away from this kind of freedom, and towards the rhythms of funk – but that’s another story.)
…
This album is reminder that the way of playing discovered at this time pointed toward a future music yet to be fully realized. Now is the time for it to come upfront: there is no other way to go, if you want to progress towards musical freedom and a universal concept of equal sharing.”
