"250k for single-coil tone, 500k for humbucker tone, 500k volume pot. But...you add a 500k (or 470/560k) resistor across the single-coil tone control.
This drops the value of the volume pot to around 250k whenever the single coils are engaged. The only issue is that you get
both tone controls engaged when in
position 4 (which will drop the value of the volume pot down when the middle pup and the humbucker are both engaged.)
If you're like me, and never use the middle single-coil by itself, you just wire up the single-coil tone control to the neck pup only. That way, the volume pot drops down to around 250k when the neck or neck/middle combinations are selected. The rest of the time (positions 3, 4 and 5), the volume pot is at 500k. If you never use the middle pup alone, this is the best way to wire it.
Not an issue when a 4 pole 5way is used, you can choose each and every positions load and tone cap value."
